Introduction: We are proud of our many accomplishments at Tumaini Youth Center ( see Accomplishments). We are delighted with the construction progress being made on our current project: TYC’s new girls dormitory and matrons quarters. We are excited about our future goals. And we are grateful to God for making it all possible. He brought our teams together from opposite ends of the world, to work for the welfare of these children. Lastly, we thank you, our donors for making it all possible!
“Development is not done to people or for people but with people.” In other words, giving money only treats the symptoms of poverty, but working with people in Kenya builds relationships and gives them a sense of ownership. It is their orphanage, and these are God’s children. American donors offer spiritual, financial and technical support, so the Kenyans are empowered to support themselves. They do the work and are with the orphans 24/7. Through the process our hope is that everyone grows closer to God and each other. The board of directors for the African Inland Church/Tumaini Youth Center in partnership with staff members in Kitale, Kenya are looking at the following projects for the enhancement of their 15 acre property. All projects are to be developed and maintained by the Kenyans, for the 53 children living at the orphanage.
